School Improvement Plan
If you would like more information about the school improvement plan, please contact Principal Jamie Tough - jtough@fwps.org.
SMARTIE Goal #1 (MATH)
- All math classes will achieve an 85% or better pass rate for both semesters, with an emphasis on achieving "B's or better" and minimizing the number of "C's."
- Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 students will demonstrate at least 15% growth on benchmark assessments from fall to winter and again from winter to spring (at least 30% total growth) through year-long reflection and spiraled practice opportunities.
- At least 20% of Sophomores will pass the SBA.
These goals will be supported by AVID and SIOP strategies, including:
- Organized binders and “Decatur-ized” interactive notebooks
- Frequent goal setting and reflection
- Focus on comprehensible input and interaction in all four SIOP domains
- Increased use of visual models, manipulatives, and real-world connections
- Practice with SBA-formatted questions
- AVID tutorials to help bridge conceptual gaps through peer collaboration
SMARTIE Goal #2 (ELA)
SMARTIE Goal #3 (Whole Child)
SMARTIE Goal #4 (Persistence to Graduation)
By June 2026, increase the percentage of 9th grade students with 90% or higher attendance from 53% to 65%, with a focus on Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, American Indian/Alaska Native, students with IEPs, and Multilingual Learners through bi-monthly mentorship, targeted intervention supports, and culturally responsive family engagement.
By January 2026, increase the percentage of 9th grade students who are “on track” by 10% by implementing early and inclusive outreach and support—such as goal-setting conferences with advisors, individual check-ins with counselors and/or admin—with a focus on underrepresented groups, and maintain or improve through June 2026.
